Surface Pro 8 - Multi Colour Screen Issue

I have had my Surface Pro 8 for just over a year, and for the last 3 or 4 weeks or so, suddenly the screen will just go multi coloured lines, as per the photo attached.

There is no way to get the normal screen back apart from shutting down the laptop and then re-starting.

There doesn;t seem be any reason it does this, and I have tried to recreate when it does, but that doesn;t work. Also, some times it happens after 10 mins of login, and then sometimes 1 hour.

I have the latest Windows Updates. Would this be a hardware error, or maybe device driver related?

Any advice would be helpful.

Before considering any troubleshooting options, please first make sure your device is up to date. To check for updates, just follow these steps:

StartSettingsUpdate & SecurityWindows Updatethen check for updates and install any available updates.

Run Surface Diagnostics Toolkit and complete task here Fix common Surface problems using the Surface app and Surface Diagnostic Toolkit - Microsoft Support.

Please also try to update your drivers and firmware, see through this link Download drivers and firmware for Surface - Microsoft Support on how to.

I have the same issue.

Yesterday I installed Intel driver 31.0.101.4575.

No improvement.

Hi

Just a quick update, I followed the instructions above and installed an optional driver, ran all the toolkits etc.

I do not use the SP eveyday, but so far all seems fine, but it has gone a few days before where it hasn't happened, so only time will tell.
