Surface Pro 7 Performance Issues

So my SP7 showed up today and appears to have some kind of issue. At random intervals the system will "hitch" or become unresponsive for several seconds. When it hitches, all input freezes including bluetooth mouse, all typecover functions, and touchscreen. This happens with or without the type cover attached and also with or without my Bluetooth mouse connected. Performance is set to best and the unit is plugged in. It has done this several times just in the time it's taken me to type this.

I've restored the unit once already and ran the day-one firmware and windows updates. Opening taskman after it hitches shows no discernable spike in cpu, ram, or disk usage. Anyone have a surface pro 7 and experiencing this issue or did I end up with something I need to RMA? Very disappointing obviously...

This is an i7 16gb / 512gb model.

Thank you for reaching out Microsoft Community.  We are sorry to hear that you are having issue with your Surface Pro 7. May we ask if what is current OS and build number of your Windows? And if possible, we will be asking you to upload a screenshot of your CPU usage and reliability monitor to check if that causes the issue why your Surface does not perform as expected. Step 1: Run Surface Diagnostic Toolkit. It is a self-healing tool which looks for potential issues and fixes them, as well as ensures your device is completely up to date.

I'm sure they'll make some improvements with next month's Update. I'll be getting the i7 16gb 256gb version.

I've restored the unit once already and ran the day-one firmware and windows updates.

Random thought, try ruling out electro magnetic interference, go to another
location and plug in and try on battery and see if you still have issues.

I would definitely return and repurchase. A new Surface should not have these
issues and you should not have to jump through endless hoops to attempt to fix
it.

I agree with you...I mean this was happening as it went through it's initial setup. I was in a different room at that time on a different outlet as well.

Where did you purchase your SP7? Microsoft itself or one of their business
partners?

I asked because your SP7 came with Pro and not Home and that is normally only
sold with the business version. If it were me, I'd return and repurchase.

Yeah, I purchased it from the MS for business store, but yes. I think I'm going to RMA it is still doing it this morning. I just wanted to pop in here to see if it was a one-off or something more.
