Surface Book front camera not working

Hey there,

I've already walked through several topics and mentioned fixes, but I still cannot get the front camera to work. It's not even showing up in any application (Windows Camera App, Skype, ...); I can only see the "Microsoft Camera Rear", but never the front camera.

I've tried:

- Latest Windows Updates (of course)

- Uninstall the "Intel(R) AVStream Camera 2500" in the Device Manager *without* deleting the driver + restart

- Uninstall the "Intel(R) AVStream Camera 2500" in the Device Manager *and* deleting the driver + restart

- Install the "Surface Book Drivers and Firmware" package from here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=49497

- Manually clicking "Update Driver" in Device Manager

Nothing worked. I also cannot find any other Camera Device in Device Manager.

I'm out of ideas. Feels like it's literally broken and doesn't work ('cause I never saw it working ever).

My system

- Microsoft Surface Book – i5 128GB / 8GB RAM

- Win 10 Pro

- Version: 1511

- OS Build: 10586.494

Hello Andy,

To help you out, we suggest that you follow these troubleshooting steps for camera not working:

• If there are missing system files (or any components) or errors found on your device, you can click this link on how to fix certain errors using System File Checker (SFC) tool.
• In case that the file checker tool did not detect any errors, you can proceed on how to use the DISM or System Update Readiness tool.
    To know more about using the SFC and the DISM, you can check ZigZag3143 (MS -MVP)'s post here.
• After running SFC and DISM, install the updated Camera app from Windows Store.
