Hi,
After running my Surface Book 2 for almost a year now the last few days it has not been possible to use Ethernet on the Surface Dock. This has worked until just a few days ago but now it suddenly stopped. Also, as I have two docks (one in the office and one at home) I have tested both have stopped working. WiFi connection works fine.
Opening Network & Internet Settings > Change Adapter Options (same as Control Panel > Network Connections) it shows WiFi and BT but not the Ethernet Adapter. Also, "ipconfig /all" shows WiFi and BT adapters but not Ethernet. Same under Device Manager there is no Ethernet as I would expect (only WiFi and BT)
The only sign I can find of the Ethernet Adapter is under Network & Internet Settings > View Your Network Properties. Here I can see a "Surface Ethernet Adapter" and its mac address and then it says:
Status: Not Present
Maximum transmission unit: 0
Connectivity (IPv4/IPv6): Disconnected
After the problem started I have
- Made sure all Windows Updates are installed (Win 10 Pro 64-bit version 10.0.17134 Build 17134)
- Run the latest Microsoft Surface Dock Updater (Surface_Dock_Updater_v2.23.139.0.msi)
- Run "Network reset"
- Run ipconfig /clear ipconfig /release as well as ipconfig /renew
Restart after each action above, but still not working
Some forums suggest disabling the adapter and then restart (to have reinstall) but I cannot see that I can do that at all (?) It is not present under adapters. Other forums suggest disabling the Ethernet power saving, but again I cannot see that I cannot change this setting since i do not see the adapter.
Any ideas?
