S3 System Firmware Update - ‎2/‎4/‎2016 - Error 0xe0000203

Surface 3 running W10 up to date repeatedly fails to install this update. It did the same with the firmware update for 1/19/2016. Call to MS customer service didn't fix that problem and they left it with me suggesting that I do a refresh which I have not yet done and prefer not to do if I can avoid it.

Should add that it has taken all other updates without issue just not the firmware updates.

Anyone else running into this problem or have a solution?

As others have posted, and my own experience, it requires a couple of proper restarts to full install the update.

I have "restarted" more than once. How many times should I do it?

Two worked for me, albeit on different days. What does your update install history show?

There are repeated entries for failed install of both updates.

that's ugly. hopefully Microsoft will get around to posting the CURRENT MSI files (the ones up now are from October) that have the latest firmware. the might force install what you need.

note to ALL - a refresh won't fix this, only a reset. but using the MSI file (when available) is something you should try first.

Can you dig out the log files?  What exact error code are you getting?  And is there any third party hardware devices you have installed?

I hope what follows is the log you are looking for. It contains the error code as well. The only hardware I have installed is a 128gb sd card. I found one of those that would work properly on the S3, but, then, that's another story.
