No onscreen keyboard. Stuck at login screen.

Hi Guys,

I have a surface pro 3 device that will not display the on-screen keyboard. I am stuck at the login screen without the ability to enter my password.

I have tried plugging in an external USB keyboard, but this does not work.

I have also clicked the strange arrow down / arrow right icon in the bottom right of the screen and selected “On Screen Keyboard”. This does not display the keyboard either.

Please help.

The download of the 7gb image failed with Firefox and then Chrome, but succeeded with Internet Explorer. 

I rebooted the Surface while the message was displayed that it was updating.  This updating was on day 2.  After the reboot everything worked fine.  Definitely an odd one, but it seems to work fine now.

Thank you for your help.  As a point of curiosity, I find it interesting that as time goes on, things like reinstalling Windows actually become more complicated.
