My Microsoft Surface 7 charger is making noises

Hi,

My Microsoft Surface Pro 7 charger is making a hissing noise when charging. I am on Power mode which is the recommended setting while charging. The sound is coming from the actual box on the charger. It is not very loud but I can hear it if I listen closely or put it to my ear. Is this normal?

Hi, AlexStone_098!

Thanks for reaching Microsoft Community and posting your inquiry here. We're sorry to learn about your charger making sound from the actual power brick. Based on what you described, the charger should not make any audible sound while charging. Have you tried plugging it into a different wall outlet? If the same thing happens on several wall outlets, please have it replaced.

Kindly Contact Microsoft Support to get assisted by one of our advocates to process your charger replacement.

1.    Please make sure you are signed into your Microsoft Account when you go to that page above, then click Contact Support.

5.    Once you click Talk to a person, select Surface when asked for your product and hit Next.

7.    Still click on Next button when asked for a bit more info.

8.    You will be asked to register your Surface Pro 7 (if not yet registered) or choose it (if already registered).

9.    Kindly wait so that you will see an option for a callback.

10.  Enter your phone number and confirm it.
