Microsoft Surface Keyboard - annoying sleep mode fix

Hello all,

I've just got a new Microsoft Surface keyboard to use with a regular desktop PC.

It works great apart from the very annoying sleep problem reported by several users, e.g.

Surface Keyboard constantly going to sleep after a few seconds without - Microsoft Community

Fix for me was very simple in the end - just replace the USB Bluetooth V5.0 adaptor with latest V5.4 version and reinstall keyboard.

Old adaptor was a generic unbranded device marked "V5.0"

New adaptor is branded and is Bluetooth V5.4 compliant.

Follow instructions supplied with new adaptor to remove old Bluetooth from device manager first before inserting new one.

Then "add Bluetooth or other device" from Settings, and select your Surface keyboard.

And that's it - sorted.

Regards,

SC
