Is there a way to get (1) the bright spot on my screen to go away and (2) my screen to stop flickering?

1. There is a bright spot on my screen that appears to be a cluster of dead pixels. I can see it when there is a white background on my display. When it is a dark background on my display it is not visible. (picture below). This person had the same issue and I followed the prompts that was given.

2. My screen also flickers pretty frequently. I have been told that you can change the adaptive brightness to fix this, but have been unsuccessful in my attempts to fix it.

Hi Tim Handrick,

Thank you for reaching Microsoft Community.

The bright white spot on your screen may be a hardware issue and the only way for us to isolate it is to boot your device to UEFI screen and see if the issue is present. Also check if the screen will flicker.

UEFI is an environment that exists completely outside of Windows and other installed applications. If the issue exists in UEFI, then we know it’s a hardware failure and your device need to be replace.

To load the UEFI firmware settings menu:

  1. Shut down your Surface and wait about 10 seconds to make sure it's off.

  2. Press and hold the volume-up button on your Surface, and, at the same time, press and release the power button.

  3. The Microsoft or Surface logo appears on your screen. Continue to hold the volume-up button. Release the button once the UEFI screen appears.

If issue exist in UEFI screen, we recommend contacting our live support team to check options for your device. You may reach them using the Surface App following the instructions below.

Kind regards,

Lavenia

Lavenia,

Thank you for the response. I took a picture of the screen in UEFI mode and it still had the spot. Is there a chat in the surface app to contact someone about next steps? I am a student and need the device for class. How long will the turnaround time be if I have to send it in?
