How do I fix my Display Settings and regain the option to duplicate displays?

On my Surface Pro, running Windows 11, when I wanted to duplicate my display I would find the option on the Settings>Display page; an illustration of a computer screen appeared and next to (or under it?) was the pull-down menu with the display options. However, that illustration and the pull-down menu has disappeared. How do I get it back?

Hi DebraHunter1!

Thanks for reaching Microsoft Community. We're here to help and let's work on this together.

I understand you're having issues with your Surface device. Happy to help and provide more options here.

To further isolate the issue, please allow us to ask a few questions.

  • Could you please send us a screenshot of your display settings view for us to have a further look on it.

To quickly switch to duplicate screen mode in Windows 11, press and hold the Windows key and then press the P key. You will then get 4 options, as PC screen only, Duplicate, Extend and second screen only. Please select which one is best for you.

Please let us know how it goes. We look forward to hearing from you.

Greetings,

RodelioP.

Hello Rogelio,

I can access the duplicate screen setting if I click on the battery icon at the bottom of the screen, and then choose the 'Project' option. Windows + P works, too, so I'm fine. However, I've included a screenshot of the Settings --> Display page so you can see what that looks like. As you can see, the project options, which used to appear on this page, are gone.

Perhaps this is simply an elimination of redundancies since I can access my Project settings in other ways?

Thank you,

Debra Hunter

Hi DebraHunter1!

Thanks for getting back to us and apologies for the delayed response as I have been out of office.

Yes, you are correct. The Project options have been moved to the Action Center and can also be accessed by pressing the Windows key + P shortcut. This change was made to streamline the settings and make them more accessible. If you have any other questions or concerns, please let me know.

Regards,

RodelioP.
