Brand new Surface Pro 7 blue screens after updates

I just bought my Surface Pro 7 2 weeks ago. I downloaded the updates for Microsoft. The update ending in 1762 was told to be causing blue screens. I deleted that update. Any app I use now, I get a blue screen. The website only recommends deleting 3rd party virusware, but I do not have any installed. All that is installed is from Microsoft. I have fully reset it once and redownload updates, and that still didn't fix the blue screens. Alot of the errors are drive errors. What else am I able to do to fix this since it's an expensive piece of technology?ImageImage

Try a wipe and reimage from a downloadable recovery image. Go to
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/surfacerecoveryimage   (with a different Windows computer if yours is not working properly)  and download a recovery image for your Surface. You will need a 16GB USB stick
formatted FAT32 (use a Windows computer).  Best to purchase and use a new,
previously unused USB stick for this. Use FULL format and not quick format and
give the volume a name like surfboot. Unzip/extract the recovery zip to the root
of the formatted USB stick and then-

There are full instructions and a video at
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4023512/surface-creating-and-using-a-usb-recovery-drive#download
but below are quick instructions. 1. Make sure your Surface is turned off and plugged in, and then insert the USB
recovery drive into the USB port.
2. Press and hold the volume-down button while you press and release the power
button.
3. When the Microsoft or Surface logo appears, release the volume-down button.
4. When prompted, select the language and keyboard layout you want.
5. Select Troubleshoot , and then select Recover from a drive . If prompted for
a recovery key, select Skip this drive at the bottom of the screen.
Note:
Be sure to select the Troubleshoot option on this screen. Don’t select the Use a
device option. If you select the Use a device option, your Surface will reboot
from the USB recovery drive again and the reset process will start over.
6. Choose either Just remove my files or Fully clean the drive.
The option to clean the drive is more secure but takes much longer. For example,
if you’re recycling your Surface, you should clean the drive. If you’re keeping
your Surface, you just need to remove your files.
7. Select Recover.
Surface restarts and displays the Surface logo while the reset process
continues. This can take several minutes.

I tried all of this steps (recovery, restart, etc), I even bought Windows PRO, but it didn't work.

As my country (Brazil) does not have any support from Microsoft for the Surface, I had to buy a airplane ticket to USA to try the product replacement.

Due to the situation of COVID was not possible to travel, so I decided to try another option (last chance), which I have already seen suggested here in the community, disable the video driver INTEL IRIS PLUS GRAPHICS and AFTER THIS has been 3 days since the blue screen error does NOT appear.Probably that solved the BSOD.

However, I no longer have a camera, brightness adjustments and any other function that needs the driver.

I did buy the product to work "more or less", so I will reschedule my airplane ticket to replacement this product, when we have the COVID issue resolved.

Hi,

I was having multiple crashes on my SP7 (version: 1909 OS Build 18363.815) whihch started a couple of weeks ago.

The solution (below) from SergiocSantos worked well for me, I went from having blue screen of death every 15mins to none (so far).

However, the SP7 camera doesn't work for me now -either as the face recognition at sign in (gives an error, cant find camera) and the camera app says "We cant find your camera".

Any solutions for this?

Also is there an update that will fix this intel driver coming up from MS?

Thanks!

Phil.

Similar issue for me!!  Posted this in another part of the forum with no update yet.

I bought a brand new surface 7 pro June 2nd, immediately had BSOD issues, tried to troubleshoot myself for 2 days and finally used the chat function to report the issue.  After three different chat conversations, I finally was able to start the replacement process.

I can't express my disappointment with this process enough.  Not only did my techs not acknowledge that this was a known issue, I stated the troubleshooting steps that I had already done a number of times, and they continued to ask me the scripted questions.  Then, as a resolution, their response was going to be shipping me a refurb.  I had to refuse for them to realize that the product was less than a week old at that point.  Their answer was that I had to call sales instead, to start the replacement process.  Fine.  Better than a refurb for sure.

I called the sales number, they immediately asked for my ticket number from the tech calls.  Of course, neither the second, or the third tech gave me numbers so I had to use the number from the first tech.  She couldn't find anything for 10 minutes then finally found my case.  She started the replacement process.

They aren't sending me a new one until they get my old one back!!  It will be 8 business days by the time the package get there (says UPS tracking), and probably 2 or 3 more before my new one gets here!  That's two weeks without a computer, while working from home under COVID restrictions.  I had to drive in to work to get my work computer.   Update here: 6.23.20 is my estimated delivery date.   Sent it out on the 9th, they got it the 18th.  10 business days without my Surface.

I even joked with the sales lady about upgrading me for all the issues and she just flat out said no.  Not even an attempt at helping to alleviate my frustration with the issue.

Terrible customer service for me on this.  Thought better of Microsoft, especially during this time.  No reason they couldn't have shipped out replacement immediately and/or provided me something for the awful experience.  I spent $850 and haven't gotten to use it yet.  They've certainly kept my money this whole time.

Hello Phil and Sergio,

Thanks for your advice! I also did it and solve the problem, it's been a month without the blue screen constantly restarting, Have you tried to re-activate the driver once again?

I don't know if the issue has been solved by a software update by now... it would be nice to have my camera back!

Hello,

Im also having this problem after updating to Surface Firmware UEFI version 8.124.140.0.

I've tried restoring, recovery and all the things but it's still happening. I've disabled Intel graphic driver and I dont get BSOD like every 5 min anymore but it's still happening like every 20min or so.

I'm really really disappointed with this issue now. I'm not at a country that MS service center exist so it's really a bad luck.

Please let me know if someone could fix this. MS Support didn't help at all.

Hi Zawye,

Sorry to hear that you are having problems with your surface as well. I never solved the problem, and so took it back to the retailer I bought it off and got my money back to replace it with a surface book.

That was the second surface 2017 that I had die on me, so not happy with that years product.

Anyway hope you get to solve yours.

Kind Regards

Phil.

Ahw no, it's happened to me as well. Not sure what to do because of covid I can't afford to not have my computer to work. I have been super happy with my surface pro 7 up until now and so scared I loose my work.

Microsoft please fix this issue!!! I'm loosing all faith in this brand!

I'm not going to attempt anything as I need my camera. Has anyone fixed the issue without loosing the camera?
