Cannot Start Skype.

Oops! We have detected an issue. Please exit and restart Skype.

I am getting this message when launching Skype on my Xbox One.

I have tried several times to restart Skype, I have uninstalled and re-installed, I have reset my Xbox One to factory settings, and still I cannot launch Skype. I keep getting this message. Is anyone else getting this message/issue?

Hello ChrisCollins1972,

I am sorry to hear about your Skype issue and I highly understand that you want to launch the Skype app from your Xbox one, by any chance. Have you tried to use a different connection and check if the issue will persist?

I will look forward to your reply.

Hello ChrisCollins1972

We've changed your post title to explain your issue. Use the title box to summarize your query. Just entering the word Skype is meaningless. Thanks.

Thanks Juan,

When you say 'use a different connection', do you mean internet connection, Skype user, Xbox One (Microsoft user) user, or something else?

Regards,

Chris

Hello again,

I am sorry I was not clear on that one. My answer is yes. I was referring to use a different internet connection. If the issue still persist, I highly recommend to contact the Xbox support.

Let me know on how it will go.

Thank you.

Thank-you Juan.

Between Xbox support and Microsoft (Skype) support, you have been of absolutely no help whatsoever, and both seem to want to refer me to the other to seek help.

As it stands, I have wasted a lot of time, talking to various support consults, I have wasted a lot of time posting on forums, and yet I still am not able to use Skype.

Is there anyone that can help me please.

Thanks,

Chris

Same thing going on with me... xbox tells me to factory reset my xbox, i do it and lose everything i have saved to my xbox AND it doesnt work. so they tell me to get in touch with skype. skype doesnt know whats going on and sends me back to xbox. so if xbox tells you to factory reset. DO NOT DO IT. it will fix nothing and you lose everything saved to your xbox.

Look I have no idea who the real culprit is here, but it needs to be figured out. There are people who rely on this program to be able to communicate with their loved ones who are far away. In this instance I'm trying to video chat with my 5 year old daughter who is EXTREMELY upset she hasnt been able to video chat with her father in almost a week. I havent been able to login since last friday.

I dont know who needs to fix this, xbox or skype, but you guys need to stop sending people on a wild goose chase having people run around in a constant circle. both xbox and skype are part of Microsoft so Microsoft as a whole needs to figure out whats going on here. reading all these posts from people who want the stuff they paid a lot of money for to work and just getting a constant run around is sickening.

Julie,

I have done exactly what Xbox Support have suggested.

I have done exactly what Skype (Microsoft) Support have suggested.

I just keep going back and forth between the two, do exactly what they say, don't get a resolution, and get advised that the problem isn't Xbox related and that the problem isn't Microsoft (Skype) related.

One of you needs to come up with a solution and fast, before I switch to a non-Microsoft product (hardware and software).

Chris

P.S. Over a week now...
