How do I change birthday date?

Microsoft account changed my birthday date to 1/1/2017 and now it's asking credit card number and want some parental consent or something and I'm unable to change it to anything else, I tried entering new date and save but it just ignores it and set it back to 1/1/2017.

Hi Curious_272,

To change your date of birth, please follow the steps below:

  • Sign in to Your info on the Microsoft account website.
  • Select Edit your personal info.
  • Change your birthdate, and select Save.

Should you have further questions, do not hesitate to contact us back.

Hi,

so there's no other way to prove I'm an adult than to give my credit card or ID information? Why would I give them to Microsoft? I guess it's bye bye to this service...

Hi johnalyy,

I'm afraid those are the only options you have to get back to your Skype account. Skype takes the safety of our end users very seriously and have security measures in place to help protect children, who have appropriate parental permissions to use Skype, from being contacted by strangers. This is why we make sure that before you access the Skype application, you are of a decent age to use the client.

Regards,

The funny thing is that I can create a new account without giving a copy of my ID or my credit card details. And, if I had given my birthdate earlier I wouldn't have to go through this now. I know safety is important but shouldn't you be consistent? :)

Well, I solved the problem by myself, so have a good day.
