Hi,

What is the exact Skype version and the device that you’re using?

I look forward to your response.

Hi Noevir_L

Thanks for the reply,

The Skype version I am running is 12.9.604.0 and my webcam is a Philips SPC535NC which worked perfectly with previous Skype versions.

Please try to update your video driver. Here’s how:

  • Select the Start Windows logo button, type Device Manager, and select it from the list of results.

  • Expand one of the categories to find the name of your device, then right-click (or tap and hold) it, and select Update Driver. For graphics cards, expand the Display adapters category, right click your graphics card and select Update Driver.

  • Select Search automatically for updated driver software.

  • If Windows doesn't find a new driver, you can try looking for one on the device manufacturer's website and follow their instructions.

If these steps don't work, try reinstalling the driver: Open Device Manager, right-click (or tap and hold) the name of the device, and select Uninstall. Restart your PC and Windows will attempt to reinstall the driver.

Please do not hesitate to reply to this thread if you need further help.

Hi Noevir_L

I have tried all the things you suggest in your last answer to no avail. I have also been on the Philips website but there is no driver mentioned for Windows 10, but I am sure I have been able to use my webcam since I upgraded to Windows 10.

Any other suggestions would be welcomed.

Please,  run the DirectX diagnostics tool.

Go to Windows Start  and in the Run box type dxdiag.exe and press the OK button. This will start the DirectX diagnostics program. Run this diagnostics and save the results to a file.

Since there is no Attachment option yet available on this Forum, you may post the saved file to a File Sharing site (e.g. OneDrive) and provide here a link to this site.

Your webcam is most likely blocked by Avast Webcam Shield or another Avast service.

Avast privacy filter (aswSnx) is inserted into webcam's driver stack:

Stack: \FileSystem\aswSnx,\FileSystem\aswSnx,\Driver\ksthunk,\Driver\SPC530m,\Driver\SPC530,\Driver\usbccgp

Try to remove this blocking.

Hi Ruwim.B

I have now removed Avast antivirus from my pc which has had the result of removing the Avast privacy filter (aswSnx) from the webcam's driver stack, but I still can't get Skype to recognise my webcam.
