MY Skype has NEVER worked since the day I bought my computer.

One day a few months ago, I was talking to our son on it; he said that "I can see and hear you.  Can you see me"?  NO I could NOT see him, only hear him.  Is there a setting to go to in order to fix this?

1. Does this happen to specific Skype contact only?

2. Is your camera working with the other applications on your Windows 10 computer?

3. What is the exact Skype version installed on your end?

The new Microsoft Skype for Windows 10 (Skype UWP)

Sign in to Skype > Select the … More menu at the upper right of the window > Select About this version OR click on your profile picture > scroll down and select About this version

The new Skype for Desktop (Windows, Mac and Linux)

Select your profile picture > Scroll down and select About

Skype for Windows desktop (classic Skype)

Sign in to Skype > In the menu bar, click Help > About Skype

Well, that's the problem:  It does not work, so I don't have any reference points to help you solve this.

It is installed on a Windows 10 platform.  It says 2018 Microsoft Corporation.  It also has the IP address listed.

Here is a list of calls I missed.  This is attempts to have this work, but it did not:

6/10--missed call              7/4--missed call                     9/3--Skype (offering a tip)  and      9/24--missed call.

I tried on the dates you see, to contact another person, OR have them talk to me via Skype--no success.  I have since given up.

I also followed your instructions; it still won't work.  I feel cheated by M\S that this program is installed, but it doesn't work.  It just shows the IP address.

There are no known personal Skype applications showing just an IP address.

 

Please, post here a screenshot of what you are seeing on your Skype screen.

Okay--I have a hard time dealing with you--or anyone else--who does not believe me when I said that my Skype does NOT work and never has.  It came with my computer, but each time I have tried to use it, it does not work.

Here's what I do:  I click on the icon for Skype.

It DOES come up, BUT if I were to call a person, or they were to call me, they can see AND hear me, but I cannot SEE them, only hear their voice. 

It also shows a list of "missed calls".

If I go into "Settings" all it shows is the year and who is the manufacturer (2018, Copyright Microsoft Corporation).  

I have not changed any Settings since day one; I would not even know where to go in order to change them, other than the Settings section on my computer.

I followed the directions that another person gave me; actually I did all of that before I wrote here for help, and still nothing happens.  The first time I tried to use it, which was in June, it asked me for a payment, BUT this is a free platform installed in my computer.  I did get to hear our son and his family, but I only got to hear them, not see them.

And if you are to ask me where is my camera (Webcam), I of course did set it up.  I know that I need it in order to use Skype.

Hopefully you will believe me.  If I take a screenshot, I would have to reveal our son's name and phone number and I am not about to do that for security reasons.  Please understand.

No, not at all.  When I click on the Skype icon, what comes up is this:

"Talk with the World"     "Powerful Features for Groups"   "Bring Skype Everywhere"

Along the left side, it shows:  "All with a down carat" then it lists three phone calls--all "Missed Calls" and one Skype information tab.

Along the TOP is MR in a circle (my initials), then the following tabs I can click on:

"Notifications"      "Contacts"     "Call Mobiles and Landlines Worldwide (Ctrl + D)     "More"

I have gone to all these in the past, ut nothing I do seems to make this work  :-(

From what you describe, it appears that you are on Microsoft Skype for Windows 10 (Skype UWP) application.

 

To see the exact version, click on the "..." (More) button and select the "About Skype" menu. If you have the latest version, then you should see "Skype 12.1803.279.0" version reported.

 

Also, click on the Contacts button. Can you see your son listed as one of your Contacts?

I'm sorry that you misunderstand my problem with Skype, but as I mentioned a few emails ago, I cannot get it to work.  Even if I could try this, I still am without the person's face on their end.

I have been thinking about perhaps uninstalling this Skype and seeing if there is a free download of another, since it's obvious that this one does not work, or work properly.

Your thoughts?
