messaging unavailable on windows 10

I have been successfully using messaging with skype on my windows 10 laptop.  All of a sudden I cannot communicate with my contacts - shows messaging unavailable.  My contact can call me through skype but I can't communicate via conversation.

Hi KayKrieg,

What’s the Skype version you’re currently using? Is it happening to all contacts or just to a specific one? Also, are you having issue on sending SMS or sending instant message on Skype?

I look forward to your reply.

Thanks.

Try to reinstall the Skype application and make sure that you’re on online status. If you still unable to, you can use the other two Skype app on Windows. You can download it by using this link and choose Skype for Windows or Classic Skype on the selection list.

Hope this information helps.

Thanks.

I see in my case that Skype has that error message for a contact who is on Skype for Business. They also cannot see my "available" status.

Others not on Skype for Business are OK.

Hi,

Please try to download the classic Skype app and check if the same issue persists. You may download the classic Skype app here: https://go.skype.com/classic.skype

Let me know if this one works.

Just needed to reset my PC so I thought I give the new version of Skype a go and I get exactly the same problem with my Skype for business contacts, these products have been around a while and it seems the problems are not being fixed months later.  Poor Show :-( So it is back to Skype Classic…  Peter

I along with one of my contacts, have had the same problem all day but not with business contacts, I went through the whole support questions & answers but nothing worked, eventually, for reasons I do not know, I deleted the last message I sent yesterday & immediately everything was OK again for both of us.

Don't know why it worked, just that it worked.
