Skype freezes my W10 computer when making video calls.

Windows 10 Pro - V1709 Build 16299.309,  Skype 12.1811.248.0

When I make Video calls, the system hangs and freezes the system, the only means of recovery is to remove power and battery.

I had this problem last year and solved it by reverting to an older skype version. Since then I have installed O365.

I cannot see Skype in the application wizard control panel nor in the 0365 home page.

What is the problem and how can I fix this.

Dave

Hi Dave,

Skype for Windows 10 version 12.18 is a built-in application designed for Windows 10 devices version 1607 and higher. Unlike the classic Skype, this application can be seen in Apps under Windows Settings.

And to isolate case, please try to reset the application and observe if the same behavior occurs. Here's how.

  • Open the Start menu and click Settings.
  • Click Apps.
  • Locate and click Skype from the Applications list.
  • Click Advanced option.
  • Select Reset.
  • Restart the device.

Let us know of the results.
