Skype keeps signing me out

I want to stay connected with skype, and automatically stay logged in on my laptop

but somehow skype keeps logging me out, every time i close my computer, so i need to log in, over and over again, typing my password and log in name. This wasn't the case with earlier versions

Can you please try the following and see if the option to launch on startup solves this?

1. Launch Skype
2. Select your profile picture at the top of application
3. Select Settings
4. Select General
5. Make sure 'Automatically Start Skype' is Checked on.

Hi Dan,

thanks for your response.

I've tried your five steps

underneath General there is no box to be checked for 'automatically start skype'

it has a box to be checked which says:

'Upon closing, keep skype running'

and

'share location with Bing'

and 'Language'

those are the three boxes to be checked

and the box 

'Upon closing, keep skype running'

I've tried with both on and off, -> no difference
