Can't log in to Skype

It's some time since I opened Skype; now, I find that my correct name and password just send the little wheel round and round.

So I hit "Can't access your account" and followed the instructions which wanted a new email address. I supplied this and it was accepted, but neither the email address nor my password works.

When I tried again, I was sent a code and when I entered that, this page opened to allow me to ask a question.

Problem is, I don't know if my name and password work, because I came in through the back door of a code entry!

The server knows my name, and two email addresses, but it still doesn't allow me to log in.

This is an unnecessary mess and a hopeless situation!

Thank you. Yes I checked all that but none of it applied. I have an account, name and password registered, but Skype will not let me in.

I would like to clarify where are you getting the error "Can't access your account". Would you mind to attach a screenshot the exact screen shoring this error message?

For the meantime, I suggest that you sign in to this link using the email address linked to your community profile or the user name you are using before: https://go.skype.com/myaccount

If you are not sure of the username, you may use this support link to recover it: https://support.skype.com/en/faq/FA109/i-ve-forgotten-my-skype-user-name-or-password

I clicked on the "MY Account" link you sent - this took me directly to a page which recognised me and my ID. However on the left it had a progress bar at 80%, and a message that I needed to complete my details. The next page required full details of address etc. I see no need for this, and am not willing to supply personal details to a MS forum. And I will not be making any purchases of Skype services. If this is a requirement, we had better forget the whole thing.
