Skype Software Sarl

Hi there,

I keep getting asked if I want to allow my hard drive to install the above Skype Software Sarl, is this safe or a scam? Also, I do not want Skype to automatically open every time I turn my laptop on. I'm a windows 365 user.

Skype Software Sarl is the official name of the Skype Company.

The prompt you are seeing is a regular prompt shown when Skype needs to update the installed software. It is safe to accept this prompt.

If you do not want Skype to automatically open every time you turn your laptop on then in Skype open Settings -> General.

 

Disable the option: "Automatically start Skype". Just be aware that the "Launch Skype in the background" option is no longer functioning. No matter the settings, the latest Skype 8.62.0.83 version is always launched with the visible window.
