Skype - Share system sound not working

Welcome to the Skype Community forum. I do understand the inconvenience you have faced. Let me assist you with this.
First, ensure that you and the person you are sharing your sound system with are using a version of Skype that supports sound sharing and the Skype app is up-to-date. Did you install
any other application(s) before this happens?
By the way, I strongly recommend you to compare your Windows sound settings with your Skype audio settings. To locate
your Windows sound settings, choose Start → Control Panel → Sound or Sounds
and Audio devices. (This path may differ on some computers with different operating systems and configuration setups, but your aim is to locate the Sounds and Audio Devices
control panel.) Once done, open Skype, select
Tools >Options >Audio settings, then in the
Speakers drop-down choose the playback device you want to use. Make sure that the sound devices match.
I hope this helps. Please let us know if you have other questions.

Thanks for your feedback.
I apologize in advance for the delay
1. We are both using the latest up-to-date skype version and we both have Windows 10
2. "Did you install any other application(s) before this happens?" No, we did not. As a matter a fact Skype was one of the first applications that I installed on my new computer. This issue did not happen on my previous computer that had Windows 7
3. I followed your instructions and I made sure the audio settings were a match however that did not fix the issue.
4. On extra note, this incident happens sporadically now. Sometimes Share Sound system works and sometimes it doesn't

Thanks for the update.
To further check this, can you give us the exact Skype version installed on your device? Also, are you using a built-in speaker? Have you tried replicating the issue using a different speaker?
Looking forward to your reply.

We are both using 7.40.0.151
Also, I tried it with different audio devices (built in speakers, headset, tv speakers) and they all have the same issue
