Skype never rings in my iPhone, or in my Macbook.

Skype just quit ringing a few months ago.
I cannot find any way to fix it.

Thank you for posting in the Microsoft Community.

I know how important it is to have the alerts on your Skype account. To meet expectations, access to the Microsoft community is limited and we do not have access to your Skype account. Not to worry, we can do basic troubleshoot steps on  Skype to get the notification sound working.

First off, please open your Skype application on your computer an follow these steps:

  1. Select your profile picture.

  2. Select Settings gear button Settings.

  3. Select Notifications bell button Notifications, then turn the listed notification types on or off.

  • Chat Notifications: to mute chats only (calls will still come through).

  • Contact comes online notification: to be notified when a contact is online.

  • Reactions: to be notified when someone reacts to your messages.

  • Notification sounds: to play sounds for new messages.

  • Tips & Tricks: to show or hide in-app notifications about Skype features, though you will still see critical system notifications if this is turned off.
Note: if you turn off Tips & Tricks, you might not see birthday notifications in Skype.

  • Scheduled call notifications: to be reminded for scheduled calls.

  • Poll notifications: to be notified for polls in Skype.

  • Do Not Disturb:

    • Show chat notifications: to mute chats in Do Not Disturb mode.

    • Show call notifications: to mute calls in Do Not Disturb mode.

  • Email Notifications:

    • Missed chat reminders: to receive email about chats you missed in the last 72 hours.

    • Missed call reminders: to receive email about calls you missed in the last 72 hours.

Alternatively, from your profile, you can set your presence to Do Not Disturb to block chat notifications and let your contacts know you are currently unavailable. Calls will still come through, however, unless you turn off Show call notifications in Settings NotificationsLearn how to control who you receive calls from.

Note: By default, with Notifications or Smart Notifications turned on, calls will ring through.

3. Click on Go at the top of the desktop screen
4. Choose Go to Folder and type the following:
~/Library/Application Support/Microsoft
5. Look for the Skype for Desktop folder and rename it to Skype for Desktop_old
6. Once done, reboot the device

I hope this helps.

Thanks for these.
I've gone through all these steps/settings.

I don't see where I can solve the problem:
Skype does not ring in my iPhone.
Skype does not ring in my Macbook.

I don't think I have "Do Not Disturb" turned on anywhere.

Can you help with this?

Hi JessTaylor1960,

Thanks for responding!

Hmm, I see thank you so much for your cooperation in trying out the basic troubleshoot steps above, I highly appreciate it!

I sincerely understand how important it is to get the notifications to work on both your devices. On this case, On this case, I highly recommend contacting Skype Live Support due to limited access to the Microsoft Community, we are not able to access any Skype accounts for further review and possible troubleshoot options that may be applicable for the account.

To start a live chat, kindly select this link : One Customer Connector (microsoft.com)

Our chat support team will need to do further troubleshoot steps on their end in order to get the notification fixed.

I hope this helps..
