Skype is only showing a white screen before signing in

Hello,

everytime i open skype it opens and looks normal on the beginning with a blue background and the skype logo and then there should be the sign in screen or the contacts screen but my skype is only white. i tried to update IE and reset it. i tried another skype version and i also tried to delete shared.xml (i think that how the file was called). i also reinstalled it a couple of times and i set my security to off for some attempts. still nothing worked. i also tried /legacylogin with a new shortcut. i cant find any other answers...

im using widnows 7 professional 64 Bit on a laptop.

My processor is the I3-3120M

my graphics card is a Radeon HD 7500M/7600 Series

its an olderLaptop as you can see but i could use Skype about 2 months ago and it was totally fine.

probably a skype bug or is my pc missing some imporant files or programs needed for the newer skype version?

Thanks for you help!

Answer

Reset all local Skype settings.

Quit Skype or use Windows Task Manager to kill any Skype.exe process. Go to Windows Start and in the Search/Run box type %appdata%\microsoft and then press Enter or click the OK button. The Windows File Explorer will pop up. There locate a folder named “Skype for Desktop”. Rename this folder to something different, e.g. Skype for Desktop_old.

Update Skype to the currently latest 8.37.0.98 version using this direct download link:

https://download.skype.com/s4l/download/win/Skype-8.37.0.98.exe

Try now again to start Skype.
