Skype is extremely slow (to point of failing) on windows 10

For the last few weeks, Skype (both for iPhone and Win 10 desktop) have been losing messages.  Furthermore, the app for windows 10 is often taking minutes to 30+ minutes to send a message.  It sometimes works and sometimes it gets stuck on sending.  Sometimes it catches up and sometimes it goes to failed to send.  I have already deleted the nearly empty Skype folder under %AppData%, and the problem still occurs.  How can I fix things so message send and receipt is again quick and reliable?

Hello,

For us to isolate the issue, kindly provide the following:

* What specific Skype version do you have installed on your device?

* What device / model are you using?

* What operating system version is your unit running on?

* Could you try a different type of internet connection?

We look forward to your reply.

This is very strange.

I uninstalled Skype.

I went to reinstall Skype.

I am typing (from that computer) this response message.  So it sure appears to me that the Internet is working.

However, the App Store shows:

Check your connection

The Microsoft Store needs to be online.  It looks like you're not.

With two buttons.

So for some reason both Skype and MS Store think I'm offline while I am online enough to access answers.microsoft.com.

After a few refresh pages, the store worked.

I have a full reinstall of skype (took a few tries).  I will monitor the issue.  Since it is intermittent, and sometimes can go a day or two before it starts failing every message sent for a few hours, the next update will be in a bit.

When two computers have Skype running, it becomes inconsistent to get updates on either.  It appears that being signed in multiple places breaks it.  When I started my second computer because I needed to run a long process and didn't want to slow down my main machine, the updates to my main computer became erratic again.

Having Skype running on my phone also seems to lose notifications to the desktop.  It is very common for either the desktop or the phone to get the messages.  Closing and reopening skype on the desktop does cause all the not yet shown messages to appear.

Isn't that the point for messages and sms sync across devices?

Btw. everything was OK before bad updates becoming to arrive a month or so ago.

Hello,

Syncing of messages and SMS may work and can be viewed across different devices, however, it is not recommended to sign in to Skype in multiple devices at the same time as it could affect its performance.

We appreciate your feedback on the updates. If you still prefer the previous version, the classic Skype can still be downloaded from this link: Skype downloads
