Skype Insider Preview // Release Notes for Skype 8.78.76.151

The latest Insider build 8.78 was fully released and this is what we were working on.

What’s new?

New Call Screen additions: In our efforts to modernize the call stage, we have added the ability to hide call participants at the top as a way to enlarge the call stage. You can also pin call participants that you would like to see on the stage, and then view both the presenter and yourself at the top tray, while in Content view (presentation mode). Improvements have also been made to the avatars of the call participants on the top tray.

Bing background improvements: Improvements to your experience when you set a daily bing background image that refreshes daily, while on a video call

Video background fixes: Even after a call ends and you restart another, you are able to maintain the earlier set video call background

Office Lens integration improvements: when using the Office Lens camera to create, edit and review photos and videos which you can share on Skype, on iOS

UI performance improvements: on Android

Skype for web: enabled on all browsers i.e. Firefox. Audio and chat is enabled on Firefox - video support coming soon.

Bug fixes and stability improvements

Closer on the Firefox effort, but not quite:

Previous statement:

"We are adding support for all browsers. We would like to make sure that no matter which device, platform, or browser you're using, Skype will always give you a great experience."

On another subject, is there any effort being directed toward the editor in Skype (desktop)? Dealing with the space taken away by the emoji button was one thing, but the recent addition of the rich text button has narrowed active editing space further. There should be a way to completely banish these, perhaps relegating them to a hotkey (and besides, rich text can be done another way already).

Hi rseiler.

Regarding Firefox support, that banner is because at the moment, the support is for audio and chat. However, video call support is coming soon.

Thanks.
