Skype icon missing from taskbar?

Skype for Windows 10 does not have a Notification Area icon. It runs in the background.

Click Start > Settings > Privacy > Background apps
Make sure Skype is toggled on

Try the following to see what happen:

1. Open File Explorer
2. Open Task Manager
3. Find "Windows Explorer"
4. Right click and go to "Restart"
5. Give it a minute
6. If it worked the skype icon will appear

Open Skype and open Application Settings, and turn on this 2 options: "Launch Skype in the background" and "On close, keep Skype running". it will keep Skype icon on taskbar.
In this options you can also turn "Automatically start Skype" on.
