I cannot use my "live:(name)" account to login now. It worked yesterday.

Go to Windows Start and in the Search/Run box type %appdata%\skype and then press Enter or click the OK button. The Windows File Explorer will pop up. 

Can you see there any folder named as the account name you have used for login to Skype?

Yes. Said the original one is xyz, and there is another live#3axyz.

I usually use the live#3axyzwhich show live:xyzon Skype.

However for some reasons, I typed too many times wrong passwords. It make me reset my password.

Then when I was back, this live#3axyz(live:xyz) do not work anymore.

The working ID was forced to change to xyz, the one my friends do not be linked.

PS. I tried to browse the SQLLite databases to find hints. however, they are too complicated.

xyz is your legacy Skype Name account. In order to login to this account you have to enter xyz as the ID on the login screen.

live:xyzis a different Microsoft account. In order to login to this account you have to enter your email address (xyz@something) as the ID on the login screen. Note that live:xyz cannot be used as login ID. Only the associated email address can be used as login ID.

You may have the same or different passwords for the xyz and live:xyz accounts.

If you have an SQLite database browser installed, then you can use this browser to open main.db database file saved in the xyz or the live#3axyz folder.

After opening the main.db file in the SQLite browser, you should browse to the Accounts table, where majority of the corresponding account details are saved. However, you will not find there any information on the associated passwords.

Thanks for the great information. I still have some problems.

My xyz is link to a *** Email address is removed for privacy *** now.

However the re-set password mail is abc @ gmail.com now.

After the accounts merge, I cannot log in the account of live#3axyz (live:xyz).

I thought the real one linked to *** Email address is removed for privacy *** is live:xyz , not xyz.

I tried to use *** Email address is removed for privacy *** (xyz's profile information) to link back to Skype, nevertheless it generate a new live:abc not the live:xyz or xyz.

I am totally confused by Skype's account system.

I am so frustrate to not be able to link back my original ID that my friends were linked to.

Is it possible to figure out the associated email in database?

What happens now if you enter the xyz @hotmail.com in the ID box and then provide the passworf you think is associated with this account?

I used xyz and xyz @hotmail.com to log in Skype, both lead me to the xyz.

I used abc @gmail.com, which is assocated to xyz, it goes to live:abc.

Just no way to go to live:xyz.

That's why I am going to modify main.db, not for password but linked email.

PS. Nevertheless, no where to go to hotmail, it always go to the live.com which mixed up my all accounts....

No one here on this Community site has access to your account details, and so it is practically impossible to exactly determine what is going on with your accounts.

Everything is just a guess, but what I think happened is that in one or other way you managed to link the xyz Skype Name account with the xyz @hotmail.com Microsoft account. xyz and xyz @hotmail.com are now one and the same account. xyz @hotmail.com (live:xyz) does not any longer exist as a separate Skype account.

Login to Skype using either xyz Skype name or xyz @hotmail.com email address.

In any chat window type exactly this text /dumpmsnp and then press the Send button.

In the output of this chat command you should see something like this.

* Login: xyz @hotmail.com (Token) IMPL: 0 PMN_SET

 * Login State: CUR:0 LAST:0 LEND:0 ERRC:0

 * Skypename: xyz [linked]
