How do I delete a Legacy (prior to Microsoft) account that keeps charging me?

I have a legacy account that was prior to Microsoft take over and am unable to access it. Even after creating a MS account with same info.

This account continues to charge me and there appears to be no way of contacting either Skype or MS.

Can anyone help?

You should be able to sign into a legacy account by its Skype name. Avoid signing in by email address or phone number as that will likely point to a different account. That legacy name will have no live prefix in front of it. Additionally, you should be receiving invoices at least once per year in your email. This will state the account and the subscription. Do you have any of these? Is there a reason you are unable to sign in by name?

I was unable to sign in via Microsoft. (The old Skype sign in is no longer working). I created a new MS account with same name and no luck. It does not show the old account info.

Here is what I got from them:

Skype Name: XXXXXXXXXX
Product name: Unlimited United States and Canada - yearly subscription
Total amount: $30.05
Transaction date: Dec 22, 2023
Order number: 8052000005571212763
Order status: Delivered

This is a recurring charge.

We’ll continue to charge you $30.05 each 12 months (inclusive of applicable taxes) until you cancel. You’ll be notified before any future price changes. We’ll charge you for the next subscription period three days before your current subscription ends and the new period begins. You must cancel before then to avoid charges. Cancel any time on your account page by clicking on the subscription you want to cancel. Learn more

If you click on account page, it just takes you back to the MS Login page. I am unable to link to this account. :(

All Skype accounts are Microsoft accounts and they are all unique. What is the error you get when you try to sign in to https://account.microsoft.com?

Do you not know your password or lack access to your recovery methods? If you are currently signed into a different account (like your new account), sign out and back in using your Skype name.

If the account is open you should see a prompt like the below:

If the account is closed, you would get an error like the below:

The exception to this is trying to sign in with a live:prefix Skype name, which will not work and produce the same error.
