Try run Windows Update and see whether you are able to install them through Windows Update?

Try restart your PC and try run update again.

Thank you for the prompt response.

Do you have any third-party security program installed on your computer?

If yes, please disable it temporarily and try to run the update again.

If you don't have any third-party security program installed, we recommend running the System File Checker (SFC) tool.

The SFC tool will verify and repair corrupted system files found on your computer.

To run the SFC tool, please follow these steps:

  1. Press Window key + X.
  2. Select Command Prompt (Admin).
  3. On the Command Prompt window, type sfc /scannow and wait for the process to finish.

Please update us with the results.

Answer-by-number:

1. Did the computer come with Win10 preinstalled, did you do a clean install of Win10, or did you upgrade a Win7 computer or a Win8.1 computer [<=PICK ONE!] to Win10?

2. Who manufactured the computer (e.g., Dell; HP; Acer; Lenovo; ASUS)?

3. Has a Norton application or a McAfee application EVER been installed on the computer since you bought it?

4. Have you ever run the Norton Removal Tool and/or the McAfee Consumer Products Removal Tool?

5. What Build of Windows 10 Version 1511 is currently installed? [tap the Windows key, type “winver” into the Start menu, and press Enter key]

There is definately no third-party virus scanner.

I have turned off the computer, unplugged from the wall for a couple of days - miracle!! Whatever it was has fixed itself, the Defender is uptodate with installations.

Thank you for all your assistance.
