Q: Why does windows XP security center not detect that i have anti virus software installed? This thread is locked from future replies

I'd have thought that microsoft XP would detect a microsoft anti virus product, but my windows XP security center does not recognise that Microsoft Security Essentials is a valid anti virus program.

Am i secure, or is windows correct?

try this

press start > type in the box "services.msc" then press ok

In the list of services, double-click on Windows Management Instrumentation. Click on Stop and then OK.

Locate the folder C: \ WINDOWS \ system32 \ wbem \ Repository and delete it.

Restart services Windows Management Instrumentation and restart your pc
