What is the difference between Microsoft Security Essentials and Windows Defender?

Just trying to decide if I should change to MSE from Defender.
Answer
Answer
The two are not the same.  Defender is purely anti-spyware.  MSE includes this functionality and also includes full antivirus protection.  If you have other anti-virus software installed there is no compelling reason to switch to MSE.  If you don't have other antivirus software installed, get MSE installed pronto!  Installing MSE will uninstall or disable Defender, depending on which OS you are running.

Typically MSE + Windows Firewall + anti-phishing capabilities in IE8 will provide all the protection you need.
