Uninstaller for PC Tools Antivirus.

Hello, I am busy trying to uninstall all Virus and spy-ware stuff on the computer to fix an issue with MSE.

(Windows XP professional, 2002, Service pack 3. )

I have come across "PC Tools Antivirus" on the Program Files list, and cannot uninstall it. (It says one of the dll's cannot be removed. The uninstaller (or the program for that matter) is not on the "list of Uninstallers" provided in this section on MSE.  Does anyone know of an uninstaller please? I can find a couple when searching the net, but am not confident enough to use the search results on the net without some further input from here. One search result is http://www.articlesbase.com/software-articles/how-to-uninstall-pc-tools-antivirus-completely-from-windows-3761965.html

Can anyone help please? Thanks a lot. Jennifer

These are the uninstall instructions from the PC Tools Forums:

Please reboot your computer into Safe Mode and perform the steps below.
How to Shutdown and Restart the Computer in Safe Mode:
1. Click on the Start button menu on your Task Bar
2. Select Shut Down from the menu (''Turn off Computer'' in XP). The 'Shut Down Windows' dialog box will appear.
3. Select Shut down (or, ''Turn Off'' in XP) and click the Yes (or OK) button
4. When the computer starts back up, begin immediately by pressing the F8 key repeatedly until the Windows Startup menu appears with various options
5. By using the up and down arrow keys on the keyboard, select 'Safe Mode'. Do not select 'Safe Mode with networking' or any other modes
6. Login to your account (if asked)
7. Wait and eventually Windows will start in Safe Mode

Uninstall PC Tools Antivirus:
1. Goto start menu > run > services.msc > Ok
2. In the services list - Locate PC Tools Antivirus Engine, right click it and Stop(if applicable)
1. Goto start menu > run > type in: regedit
2. Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\PCTools - Delete PCTAV
3. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\PCTools - Delete PCTAV & PCTAVSvc
4. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr  entVersion\Uninstall - Delete PC Tools AntiVirus_is1
5. Navigate to C:\Program Files - Delete the PC Tools Antivirus folder

Note: If you receive a notice "Cannot delete PCTAVShellExtension.dll: Access is denied" - Goto start menu > run > copy and paste in: regsvr32 "c:\program files\pc tools antivirus\PCTAVShellExtension.dll" /U > Click on OK - Now try deleting the PC Tools Antivirus folder
