Error code: 0x80004002               im runing windows 7 home premium 1

Did you reboot and try (another) manual update?

Be sure the PC clock and calendar are correct.

Right click the clock in the system tray.   Select Adjust Date and Time.

Verify and correct the month, day, year, hour, minutes and time zone.

Reboot if you changed any of the above.

Did you reset the Windows Update components? https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/971058

You may need to uninstall/reinstall MSE.

You should be able to remove MSE from Control Panel.  Any problems uninstalling see: Uninstalling Microsoft Security Essentials

Recommend you reboot the computer to ensure the uninstall is complete.

You can download a new MSE Installation File from http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/security-essentials-all-versions

Further information regarding MSE can be found at MSE Consolidated FAQ and at https://www.winhelp.us/configure-microsoft-security-essentials.html

If you cannot resolve your issue suggest post back in this thread with more detailed information.

I've had no issues with MSE on this computer that I'm using right now and am satisfied with the program.

But---

I'm not employed by MS and my thoughts are that if you think MSE has "super lame programming" then you may want to remove MSE and install a different antimalware program.
