Thanks for participating in the Microsoft Community. I'm Craig, an Independent Advisor and I'll do my best to help today.
1- Visit Outlook.com and login with credentials
2- Click on the settings cog an then click More Mail Settings to open the Outlook options page
3- Here, Under Managing your account section, click Account details (Password, addresses, time zone)
4- Under password and security info, Click change password
5- Type your current password, new password, reenter your new password and finally click save button to set your new password

if your consent is changing password then you can follow below link directly and can change your password
->https://account.microsoft.com/security/
actually microsoft password has to be changed from profile
Everytime I type outlook.com it takes me to my email page. does that implies it takes you to your mailbox from where you can directly view your email and sent if so yes .then you must have checked keep me sign in while logging into your outlook ..you can change this just log out of your account
and if you want to change password from your mailbox please follow
click on circle at top left corner->profile->security->change password

Your Credentials are: email and password
If you want to change the password of your email you must follow the steps indicated
