Email addresses not in contacts showing up when composing email with outlook on Windows phone 8.1

When I compose a new email using outlook on my Windows phone, email addresses show up that I've sent messages to but are not in my contact list. How can I delete them?

This behavior can be due to the Auto-complete suggestions settings of the account. We're sorry for the inconvenience. Let me assist you.

We can set the account so that it only show up people from your contacts list. To do this, please see below:

  1. Sign in to Outlook.com using a computer.
  2. Click on the gear icon at the top then choose "Options".
  3. Click on "Advanced privacy settings".
  4. Choose "Only suggest people in my contact list".
  5. Click "Save".

I did as you said, I even logged out and back in to make sure the changes were saved. Restarted my phone as well. When typing the email address in using the email app, all those email addresses still show up.

I understand that you want to remove the email address that you've recently sent emails. We would like to inform you that you can delete them by clicking the "x" button across of their name and email address.

I suggest to try this option and verify if this will work for you.

Please confirm if this only happens when you compose a new email on your Windows Phone. How about if you compose an email on the web (https://outlook.com)? If it doesn't happen on your webmail, we can safely say that it is isolated to your phone. You may need to contact our Windows Phone support team to assist you further.
