Hi,

Thank you for posting the query on Microsoft Community.

  • Do you want to sync all your Hotmail/Outlook.com contacts with your android phone in Outlook app?

If yes, then please be informed, the Outlook android app will sync contacts from People (People.live.com) that is your address book (Which is where their contact info lives). And the same address is displayed when you try to access people from Outlook.com/Hotmail.

Now I suggest you to configure your Hotmail/Outlook.com account in the Outlook android app with Exchange Active Syncserver and check if your are able to sync all your contacts.

Please refer to the link below.

In future, if you have any issues related to Outlook.com, do get back to us. We will be happy to assist you.

It has been my experience that this answer is INCORRECT

Contact syncing trouble with the official Microsoft Outlook app is a recognized problem from Microsoft as the default Android mail app set up with a "corporate account" or a 3rd party mail app such as Nine appear to have no trouble adding or editing contacts.

I will caution you that Android contact managers (including the stock Android) contact manager do funny things with contacts if one has the same outlook.com account connected in multiple apps.

So, it has been my experience that you have to choose your mail app carefully to use with Outlook.com -- as you can only choose one if you want the contacts to display and sync properly.  And for me the official Outlook app is a no go, as it won't sync contacts properly.

I suggest that you use either the default email App or Nine.  I have tried both, but I am using the default app because for my purposes it isn't worth paying the $9.95 for Nine.  Nine is probably the best outlook app for Android.

Microsoft acknowledges that they have problems with contacts and their official Android App.  I am sure they will probably fix it -- eventually.  Shame on Microsoft though put putting out such garbage when other apps work properly.

I have done all that.  Several times.  The official Outlook app on Android is SUB STANDARD.  There are complaints and comments in many places about this.

Advice to folks that want to use Outlook.com or Hotmail on Android:

1. Either use default email app and setup Outlook.com or Hotmail account as "Corporate"

2. Download the 3rd party app Nine from the Google Play store

3. Make sure that you only have your Outlook.com/Hotmail account connected once in the phone.

Android's built in EAS is a joke!!!! If it were set up properly, then one would connect their Outlook.com/Hotmail account ONCE in the settings and then all apps would then be able to access it.  It appears that Google has decided that only THEIR app can access built in EAS and all other apps have to build/bring their own sync.

EAS works 1000 times betters on IOS!!!!!

Just download Outlook app on your Android phone and login with your Microsoft account and there you can synchronize your contact to your default GMail account which you are using in your Android phone. Very simple

I have the same issue but I have figured it out. All you need to see all your outlook/hotmail contact in your Android phone address book  if yes

1. Install outlook app

2. Open Oulook App

3. Under setting->Accounts select your hotmail account eg. abc@hotmailcom.

4. Now turn on "Sync Contacts"

5. go to your phones address book app and open it.

6. Top right corner you will see 3 vertical dots. select that.

It will bring up a menu -> CONTACTS TO DISPLAY -> Select all contacts

or just outlook (whichever you like).

Now you will see all your OUTLOOK contacts will be displayed in your phone.

Hope this helps.

Selvan

Note:- I am using MOTTOX PLAY ANDROID 6.0.1
