Is there any way to turn off skype connection in OneDrive web application? I'm using skype desktop version and find quite annoying that skype messages appear in OneDrive web interface.

I was going through the post trying to fix the issue myself and I was lucky enough to discover the magic to hide the sidebar :-)
Go the small down arrow besides OneNote Online
Select People, second option from left.
This will open up a new tab with the address https://people.live.com/ or alternatively you can go to https://people.live.com/ directly.
Once on the people page, on the top right corner of the screen you will see a chat window icon, gear icon (settings) and your name, provided you have signed in.
Click on the Chat Icon to enable and disable chat. Make sure that chat is not visbile here.
Go to OneNote online and the chat window will disappear.
