Outlook SMTP unknown

Since several weeks I gradually can no longer send mails from Thunderbird (52.3.0) under Ubuntu (14.04): the SMTP server is unknown.
"L’envoi du message a échoué.
Une erreur est survenue lors de l’envoi du courrier : le serveur sortant (SMTP) « smtp-mail.outlook.com » est inconnu. Le serveur est peut-être mal configuré. Veuillez vérifier que les paramètres de votre serveur sortant (SMTP) sont corrects et essayez à nouveau."
My present parameters (after many other tries) are set back to:
server: smtp-mail.outlook.com, port: 587, security: STARTTLS, Authentfication: Normal password
The last 2 weeks, I had to systematically go through the Outlook
webmail to send messages! The service status says everything (including Outlook.com) is ok. I would like to know if Outlook is conscious of that problem and if I can hope in a solution coming quick.

Many thanks in advance

After long discussion with the internet provider, they replaced the modem (actually, I also switched from ADSL to VDSL) and this solved the issue. Still don't understand why only the Outlook accounts were disturbed but at least it works. Thanks to those who tried to help.
