Is Hotmail space is limited in 2014?? People's emails to my hotmail get rejected because of space issue - is that possible?

Hello

Why do people get the email sent to my email returned - while Hotmail supposed to be unlimited?

This is what they receive when trying to email me

Action: failed
Status: 5.2.2
Diagnostic-Code: smtp;552 5.2.2 This message is larger than the current system limit or the recipient's mailbox is full. Create a shorter message body or remove attachments and try sending it again.

=

please note that this happens also even if their email is text only, with a short message or subject line, and without any attachments or pictures.

Thanks

Hotmail is not unlimited.  Free Hotmail has a 5 gig inbox and the paid version a 10 gig.  That is enough under normal situations.

Suggest you backup your data to your computer and then delete most (or all) of it from your inbox.

To back up you will need an email client like windows live mail.

If you want to back up your data you must configure your account on a Mail Client. Follow the steps below to do this:

Download Windows Essentials, it comes with Windows Live Mail, Family Safety, Writer, Outlook Connector pack, Microsoft OnedriveWhen you download Essentials, you can choose custom install to install only Windows Live Mail depending on your preference.

Windows Essentials

Once Windows Live Mail is installed and configured, just sign in to your account and wait for the program to download your emails.  When finished downloading you should have an exact copy on your Hard Drive.

However - I believe it is out of date.

Microsoft state in their website that the space is unlimited. http://windows.microsoft.com/en-AU/windows/outlook/email-storage-limits

And I could not find anywhere a way to even sign up and pay for the Hotmail paid version of 10GB. Do you know any?

Does anyone knows why messages are rejected because of 'This message is larger than the current system limit or the recipient's mailbox is full. ;' - even if the amount of email I am receiving is not abnormal in any way?

Thanks!

If that were the case why would they have that error message?

Try googling the storage amounts.  I can also tell you that from your link

If your inbox grows too fast, you might not be able to send or receive any more messages.

From a FM in this thread

http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/outlook_com/forum/oemail-osend/what-is-my-storage-limit-on-outookcom/cad879f1-0553-4ead-9b00-a660a4f5cae5

As you can see even MS verbiage contradicts itself.

I understand that you're informed that Outlook.com provides as much storage as you need. Please be informed that Outlook.com provides a limit of 5GB of space but this slowly adjusts or increases according to your needs. But 5GB is the standard limit for Outlook.com accounts.

We both will wait to see what replies this thread gets.

Good Luck

Inbox includes all of your folders.

Do you have any duplicate messages in the Sent folder?

Do you mean if I save the sent messages in the Sent folder? Yes.

Not sure what you mean by 'duplicate messages'

Some users of Samsung and Sony mail apps have emails duplicate in the Sent folder every time the app syncs the emails.

A recent poster had 256,000 duplicates.

The email address was obfuscated if that in in a web browser on a pc I doubt it is from MS.  Micosofts limits are 5 gigs for the free outlook.com and 10 for the paid.
