Hotmail turned Outlook freezes - can't reply to email or compose new message

I loved Hotmail but MS forced Hotmail users to use Outlook and I have nothing but problems.  All of a sudden, I can no longer reply to any email nor can I compose a new email.  There are no errors as the email just freezes or hangs when trying to compose or reply to emails.  I have Windows 8 and Internet Explorer 10.

Have you tried to access your account using another browser or computer?
Does the same issue happen?
The first step in any troubleshooting is to clear the browser cache/cookies.

*For Internet Explorer browser: Press CTRL+SHIFT+DEL simultaneously and click Delete
*For Google Chrome: Press CTRL+SHIFT+DEL simultaneously and click Clear Browsing Data
*For Firefox: Press CTRL+SHIFT+DEL simultaneously and click Clear Now
(other browsers are similar)

For the best experience, you should update your browser to the latest version and make sure the newest version of Microsoft Silverlight is installed and running for browsers that support it.
Outlook.com is optimized for the following browsers: Windows Internet Explorer 8, 9, and 10; Google Chrome 17 and higher; Firefox 10 and higher; and Safari 5.1 on Mac.
Outlook.com is good on the following browsers, but some features might not display properly: Internet Explorer 7, Google Chrome 16 and 5, Firefox 9 and 5, and Safari 5.1 on Windows or Safari 5 on Windows and Mac.
Outlook.com isn't supported on the following browsers: Internet Explorer 6 and older, Google Chrome 4 and older, Firefox 4 and older, Safari 4.x and older.......

Yes, I have accessed my Outlook email on another computer and it did work.  I have cleared the browser cache/cookies and deleted the temporary files on my computer but the same two problems exist on Outlook....can't reply and can't compose a new message.....no errors appear.  MS Silverlight is already installed on my computer, I have Internet Explorer 10 and Windows 8. 

 

Any other suggestions are greatly appreciated!!!

I understand that you cannot reply nor compose an email. Don’t worry. We’re here to help you.

 

Since you can access your account using a different computer, this means it is fine. There’s a possibility that this is a browser issue.

 

I advised try resetting your Internet Explorer settings. By doing this, you return Internet Explorer to the state it was in when it was first installed on your computer.  This is useful for troubleshooting problems that might be caused by settings that were changed after installation. Kindly refer to the link below on how to do this. You also have the option to use Microsoft Fix-it to do this for you.

Thank you for reaching out to me to help me.  Unfortunately, Microsoft Fix it is supported by Windows 7, Windows Vista and Windows XP.  I have Windows 8 and I can't figure out where to find Fix it.  I did a search and nothing came up....argh!!!

I am now having the same problem with Hotmail.

Cannot write new email or reply to one.

I reset the cache, reset IE to default settings, have IE11 and running Win7.

The account works from another computer.

These are all the suggested fixes that I have found.

What else is there?????

I had this problem.   For me, what fixed it was logging into Hotmail in Chrome (where I could write emails) and then properly logging out of Hotmail in Chrome (not just closing the window).   From that point on I could write and reply in Hotmail.

I encountered the same issue at beginning of Dec. 2013. I cleared all cahces, cookies, reset the browser to "original". But all did not help.

 

What happened is: when I reply or compose a new email, I got some gash and I cannot type in the body at all!

Same here.

When I hit Reply, nothing happens.

When I try to open a 'New' message in another TAB I get the "Almost Done..." frozen message.

 I cleared all  temp files and reset the browser. But still have the problem.

Please Help!!...
