Hi Rich215,

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We understand that you like to disconnect Skype when signing in to Outlook.com. Please be reminded that by design, once you signed in to your Microsoft account via the web based Hotmail/Outlook.com, you will also be signed in to Skype/Messenger. However, as a workaround, you may set your Status to "Invisible". To do so, please refer to the steps below:

  1. Sign in to your Microsoft account via Outlook.com
  2. Navigate to the Inbox page
  3. Click your name on the upper right corner of the page, then select Invisible

You can also visit our Feedback area where you can suggest of new features you think are important to add to the product. We consider suggestions and comments provided by our users and you can expect to see many improvements in future releases.

Regards,

Francis S.

erm, Simply stop the sound emulation from the browser??

why would i need to tell you the environment??

its an option i really would like...

otherwise outlook.com may no longer be a viable mail program and will have to move away from Skype and use ICQ instead

My situation is that I do not ever want Skype to be integrated with my email accounts....hotmail, live...or outlook ones.

I understand that it is neat and cool to use one program (email in this case) and have it connect to your chat and other social programs.....for some!

I think it is a total nuisance to have this integration as I use my mail and messaging programs separately and at different times.

So in summary for all you support people to understand in a simplistic manor:

1.  Can you take away the auto sync integration of Skype to email?

2.  If you can not make 1. happen, can you at least not allow the Skype settings of being Invisible or Available inside the email program to override the stand alone Skype settings?

This is very true.

Why there wasn't an option to stop your Outlook.com login automatically connecting to Skype is beyond me, it makes no sense.

I hope the above feature will be implemented - not every one is on board the social media train, and not every one (as pointed out above) can/want to use their messaging programs at the same time as their mail programs.

At least it would be good to have better syncronization.

When someone calls me on Skype I receive the call also via outlook.com. If I answer on Skype the call still keeps ringing on outlook.com.

If I read all my messages on Skype I still receive via outlook.com missed messages notifications.

If it would be synchronized so that messages appear also as read on outlook.com and vice versa it would be ok. Same goes for the call.

Hello Everyone,

We have received word from our Microsoft Engineers regarding this issue. They have also performed several tests on their end and they have informed us that this is by design. There is currently no way or method in order to disable Skype when using Outlook.com web interface.

For now, we suggest that you "Go Invisible" so that you won't receive notifications via the Outlook.com Web Interface with the Skype integration. Another thing would be to not install the Skype plug-in when prompted.

We appreciate everyone's opinions regarding this matter. Kindly refer to the Feedback link given by Francis in his initial reply so that we can document your opinions and insights on how to make Outlook.com better for everyone.

@MikeRichards_067,

We would like to reproduce the issue on the same environment that you are using (i.e., same O.S., same browser) so that we can document the issue with accuracy.

@Rich215,

To answer your questions, firstly, Skype integration is by design and all UK based accounts have been automatically integrated with it. Secondly, we are still testing if there is a way or method in order for the changes made on the Web Integrated Skype to not reflect on the client. We will get back to you with this one once we are finished with our tests.

@Ghost IV,

Thank you for your insights. We would appreciate it if you would take a little bit of your time to provide this via the feedback link provided by Francis.

@doubleuiam,

We are also testing the synchronization between the web integrated Skype and the Skype Client on our end. There are times when we answered the call via the Client, the call also got answered on the web on a real-time manner. Other times, it was the other way around. We are still performing tests on our end using our test accounts on this one, same as what Rich215 is referring to for changes made on the Web to not reflect on the Client.

Please let us know if you have additional questions.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Regards,

Carlo

I have the same exact issues.  When I am logged in to Skype also have my email client open with Outlook and an incoming Skype call comes in it rings in both spots.  I answer it in Skype and it keeps ringing for an additional minute or so.  It took me forever to figure out where the "phantom" ringing was coming from until I completely uninstalled Skype from my laptop.  I then had a co-worker call my Skype account and it started ringing on my PC while I was logged onto another PC.  I came to my laptop and noticed it was actually ringing in OUTLOOK.  THIS IS STUPID.

SO, the big question is now how to get it removed from Outlook so I can continue to use it via the originally planned method of Skype?

Please fix this as soon as possible as it is very annoying.

Thanks!
