Hi ck_1972,

Welcome to the Microsoft Community Forum.

We're sorry for the delayed response. I understand that you are having issue regarding the error about the RFC 5322 compliance. For that concern, this Please ensure the message is RFC 5322 compliant message is not unique to Outlook.com. The server where your business domain resides is possibly not RFC 5322 compliant. It could be that the server may be old or just not updated to the current standards whereas the Outlook.com server does meet the latest standards.

If the message came from a third party domain, the domain administrator will have to make the necessary changes on the mail configurations on his domain and check if it was RFC compliant. We suggest contacting them as this may require some server configuration if you are not the domain administrator.

You may also provide the complete message header of the bounced message for us to determine our next course of action. I have created a private message so you can provide the information needed for investigation. You need to be signed in to the Microsoft Community forum to view the link. Just click on "You have a private reply to this message" link just above your post to view the message.

There are also helpful articles on the web about RFC 5322. You can search the web using Bing to read more about RFC 5322.

Regards.

Having the same issue. Only check gmail once in a great while since it just serves to forward mail to our primary, Hotmail, account.

Message is: The error that the other server returned was:
550 5.7.0 (COL0-MC3-F12) Message could not be delivered. Please ensure the message is RFC 5322 compliant.

The webmaster has always had trouble with Hotmail and so only uses gmail, apparently. We didn't realize how many animal (rescue) adoption applications had been rejected by Hotmail; a lot of animals could have been placed, making room for others that desperately need homes.

Hotmail is rejecting the messages and providing feedback that does me no good. I'm a user, not a programmer. Sending me off to the gmail people so they can tell me it's your problem is not a solution that works for me.

I'll supply the header text of the messages as you require.

Suggestions please?

I had this problem too when delivering to hotmail.com but I've fixed it.

I changed the email header from...

From: (name) *** Email address is removed for privacy ***

To...

From: name <*** Email address is removed for privacy ***>

Same with me.   Have always had problems with hotmail not delivering or emails going into the junk folder.
Even worse is msexchange, some times I've had it reject important emails and not notify neither the sender or receiver.

Having struggled for weeks with Hotmail accounts, I tried the above solution as described by hhhccc.  It worked so I thought I would post the solution, only to discover that hhhccc had found out 5 weeks before me!

It does appear to work.  I was sending company name rather than company e-mail in the from: field.

The problem only seemed to be hotmail accounts, all others worked.

I was getting this message because I only had a name in the From: header, I forgot to add the <email> part. Just more FYI
