VPN (NORD) OUTLOOK 2016 ON WINDOWS 10

Hi,

I have the issue where outlook 2016 will not work with my vpn turned on. If I turn off the vpn, outlook 2016 works fine. With the VPN turned ON then Outlook 2016 will open up OK BUT it will NOT download/ update emails. Error message states "We are unable to connect right now. Please check your network and try again later"

In the notification area along the bottom of the Outlook 2016 page it says "This folder has not been updated". Also says "Disconnected" which then changes to "Trying to Connect".

Also get the same issue with One Note, it does open but says "One note needs a password to sync this this notebook."

All ok with NO VPN

update 05th feb 2020

Not OK with VPN-the following:

OUTLOOK 2016 VERSION EMAILS

MICROSOFT TO DO APP

ONE NOTE 2016

Hi Spud,
Who is your email provider? I saw the same behavior with 2 clients and gmail accounts. At the time, I thought Gmail was blocking VPN connections.

So it's also blocked with Outlook.com. This is a personal account, correct? Check your activity - see if they are blocking the ip.

Hi,

Yes a personal account. I have checked activity but cannot see anything saying vpn or ip is blocked. Is there a specific place to look with in activity to show where the blocking takes place?

Thanks

It would be in the activity list - it would list the ip and say it was blocked. I'll see what i can find out from my contacts on the product team.

Hi,

I visited the VPN website and found information as per the above.

This involved changing the DNS setting which I did and it worked, however I changed the settings in the connection to the VPN and this worked.

Thanks

Thanks for the update. That should work for all VPNs and explains why i could not repro problems on my own computer when i tested the VPN my client uses - i already use the google DNS servers.
