"Please enter your email address in the format someone(at)example.com."

It's a little disappointing to see that this wasn't changed with the introduction of the new Outlook interface.

I'm just rather annoying to receive the "Please enter your email address in the format *** Email address is removed for privacy ***." prompt every time I input my username alone. With Yahoo! Mail and Gmail, they have no problem in accepting simply the username - which is far more convenient and has less typing involved :)

Hi,

Are you saying that you cannot sign in to Outlook with your current username or you're just getting annoyed with the message *** Email address is removed for privacy ***? Did you register your email address as a Hotmail account before?

Thanks!

No, I'm just annoyed with how all users must input their email addresses in the format of someone(at)example.com, without the possibility of just entering the username (i.e. 'someone' in this case) which is the norm at Gmail and Yahoo! Mail.

Hi, I used the link, but if you are able to pass this request to your Outlook contact point, that would be highly appreciated. I hope my message won't be treated as 'just another piece of feedback', as it truly is a reasonable request and should be fairly easy to implement.

If Yahoo! Mail and Google/Gmail can do it, I find no reason why Microsoft/Outlook can't do the same.

Hello,

I understand your frustration.

I'm sorry, but signing in with your username alone is not currently available. However, we forwarded your suggestion to the product group, who appreciates feedback and considers suggestions for a future releases.

Thanks!
