Windows or Hotmail giving notifications on my pc and I'm not logged in.

I am getting the small notifications of new emails when I switch my laptop on even though I'm not logged into my hotmail account or signed into any outlook at all!  Why should this happen as that is not a very secure or safe?  How do I switch this off to stop it happening?  I have been wondering why my laptop has been so slow and this times in with these new notifications so it is obviously from a Windows update.

Thanks

Hi,

There could be several reasons why you're experiencing this issue. In order for us to know the root cause of the issue, we would like to ask the following questions:

  • How long have you been experiencing this issue?
  • What were the changes made prior to the issue?
  • Which Windows version are you using?
  • Have you checked the settings of your browser and try turning off the "save password" feature of your browser?

Looking forward to your reply.

Regards.

Thanks.

I have probably been experiencing this for a few months now.

I didn't make any changes - I am thinking it might have come from a Windows update, but don't know.

I am using Windows 10.

I have to login to hotmail every time and I log off all the time when I switch off.

I even got a new email notification on my screen when I had switched on my laptop but hadn't typed in my password to get into my laptop!!

Thanks but as I said previously, my passwords are never saved and I have to log in every time.  At the moment I haven't even used my hotmail on this laptop for about a week now but I am still getting notifications.

Thanks for the clarification. Let's try to disable email notifications of Mail app in Windows 10 and see if that works. Please try the following steps:

  1. Type Mail in the search box and go to the Mail Windows Store App. Click Settings while keeping the Mail app open.
  2. In order for you to customize and make changes on the notification alerts for your account, click Options
  3. Select the email account you're working on
  4. Select the Account and scroll down to get to the Notification Settings. You'll be able to change the settings from there.

Please provide an update.

Regards.
