The "Run rule now" option doesn't appear in Outlook web in first attempt

Hello Community,

In Outlook web (Outlook.com), when I select any email in Inbox > Click on "..." (3 dots) on top-right of the email > Select option Create rule > Select a folder and click on More options > It opens Rules window and when I scroll down, it shows only option Stop processing more rules, but not the the option of Run rule now. (See screenshot1). I then have to discard that rule and close the Rules window. Further, when I do the exactly same process again, then along with the option Stop processing more rules, it starts showing the option Run rule now. (Screenshot2).

I have tried using Microsoft Edge, Chrome and Firefox and also on different PCs, and also cleared the browsers history, cache etc. but problem never goes away.

I'd appreciate any advise on this.

Hi Vikramaditya_J, hope you're doing well. I’m Ian, and I’m happy to help you today.

"Run rule now" checkbox will only appear if your Action (step 3 ) is "Move to" and the folder is NOT "Inbox"

This is a user-to-user support forum and I am a fellow user.
I hope this helps, but please let me know if you need anything else.

Hi Rianvillareal,

Thanks for your response. I have been doing what exactly you said. Select any email in the Inbox > Create rule > Select a folder from drop-down where we've to move to (e.g. any custom folder other than the Inbox itself) > More options > And then the Run rule now option is found missing and only Stop processing more rules option is there. I simply close the Rules window and select to discard that rule (which in fact hasn't created).

Interestingly, after that I repeat the same above steps (exactly the same!), then the Run rule now option becomes visible. I've tried it with different personal Outlook.com accounts, but it's same everywhere.

I remember I had observed this issue some time back also but it was fixed somehow, so I didn't pay much attention to it.

Thanks

Sincerely, Vikramaditya J
