Running Outlook 2003 with the HTML option for composing messages. Using Outlook as the e-mail editor. The signature file is called jerry.htm along with the graphics file called logo.JPG or logo.GIF, tried both and they are all in the signature folder that was created by Outlook. In the mail format tab, signature section the name jerry is selected for both new and replies and forwards. The OS is Windows 7 Professional SP 1 and/or Windows XP/PRO SP3, same problem in both. When you go into the the Create Signature area of Outlook from the mail format tab, the signature block is displayed OK. PROBLEM: When creating a new message the message is opened and the signature block is displayed. All the text is showing but the graphic area where the logo.jpg file is suppose to be has a big red X. This happens about 2 times out of 10. The other 8 times everything is rendering OK. The receiver of the email will get the red X or the logo depending on how it was sent. This will also happen when replies or forward a message is used. Things I have tried: editing the signature block in Word 2003, editing the jerry.htm file in Notepad, no change. Double clicking the jerry.htm file from windows explorer, outside of outlook, and it always displays/renders OK. This problem of the red X is only happening in Outlook.

Try these steps and check if one of them helps
Method 1 :
Change the mail format to either Rich Text or to using Word as the
email editor. (Remember that not all mail clients can correctly interpret
Microsoft Outlook Rich Text, so this may cause other problems. With Word as the
email editor, it may appear that there is no way to change the signature "on the
fly" once in the new message window. The way to do this is just right click on the
signature and it will bring up your other signatures to choose from. Click one of
the other signatures and it will change it.
Method 2 :
Change the source code for the image.
Go back into Outlook, click on Tools, Options, Mail Format.
Click on Signatures.
Click on your signature with the picture and below in the preview, right click on
the image and click "view source".
This will open up your source code in Notepad.
Scroll all the way down and find the line that looks like the following:
src="Untitled_files/image002.jpg" (where "Untitled" is the name of my
signature)
(there will be 2 entries that begin with "src=", but we want the one pointing to
the .jpg file, not the .png file)
after the first quotation mark (after src=), type in "./" (without the quotes)
now it should look like this:
src="./Untitled_files/image002.jpg" (where "Untitled" is the name of my
signature)
In Notepad, click File, then Save. Then close Notepad.
Method 3 :
When creating your signature, instead of clicking advanced
edit to insert an image, do a right click in the Signature Text window and choose
"insert image". Browse to your image and insert it.
