OWA, New Outlook (Outlook for Windows) - Current folder not updating

Hi All,

This is a weird issue I have just started happening in the last few days. In both, the New Outlook app and Outlook on the web, when I receive an email into my inbox it doesn't show in the list. If I switch between folders and back to the inbox it will show up. The folder unread count updates, I receive the notification in Windows for the New Outlook and the notification even pops up on the screen when using OWA.

The other thing I noticed is under View -> Messages there is now a 'Sync' button. I think this acts as a refresh button but it doesn't always work.

Outlook New:

Version

You have Microsoft Outlook Version 1.2024.313.100 (Production).

Client Version is 20240308003.14 .

Hello Lleyton Ritchie,

Good day,

Thank you for posting in the community

To narrow down your query I need to have more information:

  1. Are all emails affected? If no, is there something common in the affected emails (e.g. external/ internal...)

  2. Did you try another network/ device?

  3. If you do not switch between the folders and just wait, does the email show up? If yes, how much time does it take?

  4. Are there other accounts in your tenant that are affected?

  5. Is classic Outlook working well?

Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns. I look forward to hearing from you. Please understand that our initial response may not always resolve the issue immediately. However, with your help and more detailed information, we can work together to find a solution.

Best regards,

Community Moderator

Hi Eleni,

  1. Are all emails affected? If no, is there something common in the affected emails (e.g. external/ internal...)
    - It is all emails received by my work account. I tested a personal Microsoft account added in New Outlook and it doesn't have the same issue.

  2. Did you try another network/ device?
    - Same result when connected to a different network. Only other device I have to test on is the iOS Outlook app which works fine.

  3. If you do not switch between the folders and just wait, does the email show up? If yes, how much time does it take?
    - No, it never shows up.

  4. Are there other accounts in your tenant that are affected?
    - Not that I have found. But haven't found anyone else that has the exact Outlook Version I have.

  5. Is classic Outlook working well?
    - Classic Outlook doesn't have this issue. (Wouldn't say it is 'working well' hence the reason for using New Outlook)
