Outlook show sender above subject stopped working

Hi, suddenly the view has changed on my outlook program and the from & subject sare being shown on the same line.

Here is what it looks like currently: 

I have already tried:

  • switching to compact view" in view settings.
  • re-selecting "show sender above subject" in view settings
  • "Resetting all view settings

None of these has worked. Any ideas on how I can get back to the way it used to look?

I think you may just need to drag the border to make the reading panel narrower. See my screenshot:
