Outlook redirect rule stopped working; Access denied ,does not pass DMARC verification

Hello,

I have an email redirect rule for some time, but it stopped working since last Wednesday. All redirected mails bounce back with "Access denied, sending domain [DOMAIN] does not pass DMARC verification and has a DMARC policy of reject.

for example:

Your message wasn't delivered because the recipient's email provider rejected it.

DB5EUR02FT022.mail.protection.outlook.com gave this error:
Access denied, sending domain [SENDCLOUD.COM] does not pass DMARC verification and has a DMARC policy of reject. [PAXPR03MB8202.eurprd03.prod.outlook.com 2023-05-10T13:59:59.883Z 08DB4F6AA79E53B4] [DUZPR01CA0068.eurprd01.prod.exchangelabs.com 2023-05-10T13:59:59.889Z 08DB50E6414EAB05] [DB5EUR02FT022.eop-EUR02.prod.protection.outlook.com 2023-05-10T13:59:59.879Z 08DB513EAF6E0C11]

Did something change last Wednesday?

Answer

At least for this issue to Hotmail/Outlook.com., I was on the right track but thinking of it wrong (it had nothing to do with the same change in Office 365).

It supposedly happened almost two months ago, but I think in reality it only went wide at some point in August:

"For our consumer service (live.com / outlook.com / hotmail.com), we have changed our DMARC policy handling to honor the sender’s DMARC policy. If an email fails DMARC validation and the sender’s policy is set to p=reject or p=quarantine, we will reject the email."
